Grangegorman Library Store

Have you seen books/dissertations/Journals that have the location Grangegorman Store and wondered how you can get your hands on them?
Grangegorman Store was set up to house items from the library that we didn't have the space for in Grangegorman. It consists of  some of our least borrowed books, and Journals and Dissertations that are more than 5 years old.

These items are still available but you will have to fill out a form at the issue desk to request them (please note that you cannot put a hold on these items). They will then be brought over from the store and will be available for you in the library. It may take up to 2 days to retrieve an item in the store.

Please note that items in the store still follow the same borrowing rules. Journals and dissertations cannot be borrowed or taken outside the library.

If you need anymore information about our store, or you want to request an item from the store, drop into us in the library.

Need to Keep a Record of What Items you Borrow?...

You're working on your dissertation/thesis/project/assignment and you want to keep track of what books you have borrowed for referencing purposes (or any other reason!) but how do you do it? Well with access to your 'Reading History' anything is possible!*

Simply log in to your Library Account using your student number and Library PIN
Your library account gives you details of what you currently have on loan and any fines owed. You can also renew your books or put a hold on a book.
To set up your reading history click on the 'Reading History' tab, and then click on 'Opt In'.
A record of all the items you borrow from then on will be kept and you can access this any time you log into your account.

*Well not quite 'anything', but at least you won't have to write down every book you ever borrowed any more in case you use it in an assignment...

When There are Four in the Relationship...

The Irish Times has some interesting articles in its Health Supplement today on the role of Grandparents in the development and 'parenting' of their grandchildren.
Of interest to all, but perhaps most relevant to those currently on the MA in Child, Family and Community Studies.
There is input from Professor Virpi Timonen of the school of social work and social policy at Trinity College Dublin, who co-edited Contemporary Grandparenting: Changing Family Relationships in Global Contexts. A copy of this book is being held behind the desk in the library for those who wish to consult it.
We have also ordered an e-book version of this book so that it will be available online to users. We will let you know when it is available.

Welcome to the Library!

We would just like to say a big welcome to all the first years in Grangegorman and also welcome back to all the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.
We hope you will get the most out of the library.
We now have 2 group study rooms that can be booked online or at that issue desk.
We also have a separate computer room in the library.

Another addition is our self issue machine which allows you to check out and return books without queuing at the desk. Please ask any member of staff for help using it if you need to.

Along with all these great new services, we have our amazing Art and Design, and Social Science collections, audio visual materials, dissertations, and journals.

And don't forget all our online resources- from Databases, to E-journals, to E-books, to access to your library account.

We love our new library and we hope that you will too!
